LOL @ Perth in #8 position. Trust me when I say if this city made it in the top 10, I wouldn't call it a definitive list, by any stretch of the imagination.

It's impossible to describe the suck factor without getting political. Rest assured, 10-15 years ago Perth might have got a look in - but in its current state of affairs, now way.
If you dont have a job above the tropic of capricorn, good luck being a 1st homebuyer, ergo - how the hell is this city "liveable" when the cost of living is so extreme?

Actually I do like Adelaide city it's nice and small but has everything you could want....except a decent future. And as for livable, they obviously don't ask the locals.

I'm an ex-pat West Aussie, but I've lived in Melbourne for 12 of the last 25 years.
It's not a bad place to call home.

LOL @ Melbourne being number 1

Melbourne is the type of place were a 100,000 people flock to a game of marbles & trust me there's 10 times as many bogans & ferrals than any other australian city rooly & trooly.

Isn't it funny that the URL you linked to was compressed down to this:

    omist.com/blogs/gulli...bility-ranking

    That list sure is...

That makes sense....Melbourne weather is only a fraction better than Vancouver's.

I'm surprised Sydney is still listed...it's pretty and all, but it's now the 7th most expensive city in the world to live...and has traffic jams on all major arterial roads 7 days a week.

I keep forgetting that British Columbia is in the southern part of Canada.

    Western actually...
This list is broken. I don't know about Australian cities, but Vancouver is one of the least affordable cities in North America. Toronto has some of the worst traffic jams. Both have high crime rates, and Toronto isn't even on the coast or near mountains (it's on a lake).
Calgary (where I live now) is great for the mountains, and the folks are nice - but Ottawa (my former hometown) has 1 000 000 000 times more culture and museums, is cheaper and is driving distance to Montreal AND Toronto AND cottage country. I would have put Ottawa up there way before the three other Canadian cities. Toronto and Vancouver do have really nice restaurant and culture scenes, but so does Montreal and it's much more affordable. IMHO.

I can't believe that I can't find Ciudad Juarez in the short list.
