It’s said that George Martin lost his cool over that solo. He loved the song but hated the solo. Too bad it was before George discovered slide guitar. That solo was meant for slide.
Good thought, that does seem a perfect fit for a sweet little George slide!
Love it. And I think it was played on the sonic blue strat he got that same day.
You could almost call that one in Nowhere Man a concise chord/melody part.

"Don't Worry Baby" has a guitar solo that is about as concise and minimalistic as it can get. If it was in the fade in or fade out I guess I'd call it vamping, as he's just playing the chords, but it's in the middle of the song and it's very much a moment when the guitar takes the spotlight away from the singer. And it's perfect. I don't think the song could have been improved by a busier, more typical solo. Also ,the simplicity of the solo is well suited to the lyrics.
