not sure, just picked it up but it's no featherweight
Geez, you could probably get 3 bodies from that. I'm obviously no expert on woods like that, but I'm guessing you can't usually buy a rosewood body blank for 20 bucks. Or probably even $60.
Nope. Bad deal. Just send it to me for proper disposal.
Almost looks like you could cut the whole neck and body as one piece with no neck join...
$60 for that slab of Indian Rosewood? No freakin way! Did it fall off the back of a truck?
What a wood score! I'm supes jelly, as the kids say.
just a hair over 2" thick, this was just a cut off the end of the board
going to follow this one!
Oh, my this is going to be insane.
Where do you shop for your wood? It might be worth the plane ticket!
Ya - awesome deal on the wood! Could not be destined for a better cause either - this is going to be epic!
about a hundred degrees blazing heat today, trimmed up the board a little, figuring out how to divide it up
oh so sexy
This'll be another mind-blower.
Dang, that's nice.
Nice wood Señor Lee. I look forward to seeing you pull a guitar out of there.
Great chunk of wood! Looking forward to another great build... and another fun build thread!
Nice rosewood find, SL! I do believe that I'm quite jealous.
Can't wait to see how this turns out!
I found a neck in there
hacked it out
flattened the top with the router sled
straightened out the side
split off a slab
flattened the back
drew some lines
cut it out with the hand burner, 100 degrees in the shop and i'm wearing gloves
ran the router around it
I sand the end grain, it's the way to go, no tear outs this way
i thought it would smell like a barnyard like all the other indian rosewood i've worked with but this smells really nice, like roses
easier to cut than maple but not by much
Can't wait to see this!
