Hopefully will be able to finish this in reasonable time. Plan on doing some new innovations and some stuff that I haven't even thought of yet (that's a worry!)

Pix shows a large plank of Bunya pine and some Blackbean and redgum pieces originally destined for fret boards but who knows. Plan on my first solid body guitar and hope to finish fairly quickly so as not to interfere with the fishing too much.

Should I be lucky enough to snag a prize, I will be donating it to Glen's charity as a tribute to him.

    Good luck guys and gurls!

    Hollocaster .............some progress already!

Because it was blowing too hard to go fishing, started to get some stuff done. Cut out a blank from my large chunk of Bunya pine as well as a neck blank from along side the body. Whacked both blanks through the drum sander to level them and now they measure about 33mm thick.
Marked out the neck blank and trimmed the edges on the scary 1" router bit.

Edged three pieces of blackbean fretboard blanks to make a top or something but it's about 1/2" too narrow but will be able to use some offcuts to make it up. Almost dark now but just before I had to come in I edge glued the blackbean in the wedge jig for that purpose, and I'll let it cook over night.

I have no idea what it will become for sure yet but I have the choice of a Tele, Strat, Red Special or a few Tele variations I've done previously.

I'm leaning towards a Tele as I really do not have a regulation Tele shape guitar as yet. Some exciting pics. of wood follow!

    Hollo Caster

Well I glued the blackbean top onto the Bunya body blank last night and today introduced it to the pin router. After about an hour's cutting this was the result!!! A couple of small accidents as shown but nothing serious. It weighs in at 4.75lbs in American money, roughly 2.5Kg in my money. It's going to be way too heavy for these old bones to support so looks like I need to lose a bit of the body mass.

I usually build very light guitars, not that I gig anymore but I don't like 'em heavy! Some pix for your listening and dancing pleasure!

    Holy Termites Batman!

I suspected I had termites in the shed munching on my timber but when I got back to the saw dust factory after lunch..........Look what the little buggers had done!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

At least now it only weighs 2.5 lbs.

Bunya is really nice. But expensive. Where did you pick that up Dave? Looking good btw.
