I see a theme here. To pull off the comb over, I will need to glower and nurse grudges like warm, flat beer.

Next time you go somewhere like a theatre or auditorium, sit towards the back and you'll notice that most of the older guys and even some in their twenties and thirties have varying degrees of hair loss on the top towards the back.

The beauty industry and many others try to sell people on needing to look different than they really do.

I like to know where I really stand with other people.

I know a lot of folks place a lot of stock on appearance, and that explains much of their behavior.

I do all hair maintenance once every 4-6 weeks. Just the above the neck stuff, don't get all excited.

I have a slow growing beard, so it works. My method is to use electric hair shears, with no guard, and cut it all off. I follow that up with a razor, but only on the face. Did the whole head once, but my head's too lumpy, and it was a bloody mess.

If my hair recedes a bit, I don't notice or care. I don't have a bare spot in the middle but if I did, I'd ignore it. Nothing looks worse than drawing attention to it by trying to hide it. And nothing's more pathetic than a fashion conscious aging male in denial.

My dad had a long one. He'd come in from swimming with the punk curtain hanging down. Then...a headflip would flap that baby right back.

I thought it was about something called a 'bover'. Had to read it a few times before my brain figured out where the page break should go.

Believe it or not, it was a general observation, and not directed at you, except to the extent it's your thread.

See, it's an authority thing. Your dad. Your Little League coach. Your shop teacher. Come-over, hint of Old spice and and unfiltered Camel. We all pretended not to notice. These were the guys we trusted to win the Cold War. They weren't really vain so much as they didn't want to show signs of vulnerability, and we didn't want to see that either.
