Combo build

    Hi all
    I found this old pine cabinet on the side of the road and am wondering if I can build a combo unit to fit a 12 inch speaker with a 2 watt tube amp
    I want to keep the shelf as this will be for my amp
    Is 1/2 an inch clearance between shelf and speaker enough.or should I raise it a tad as I would have about 2 inches clearance with the amp unit sitting on the shelf or gut the cab and make it a speaker only box ?

    Looks like a good start, but my QQQ would be how your tubes would be oriented; horizontal out the back, vertical facing down, or upright?
    The chassis might just be a few inches, but tube hang might change what is "enough room".

    Hi Dave
    I was thinking of sitting the amp on the shelf
    Tubes would be vertical
    I just had an idea of building it like this
    Tubes would be horizontal,I could take shelf out
    Amp would be secured off back of cab

    Quick update on combo build
    I found an old Oregon draw that came with my workbench when I acquired it 25 odd years ago it old and has more character than the pine piece
    I am going to mod it like the green one as it is the same amp I have
    I stripped the draw back to what I want so far
    Now some glueing sanding and cleaning up and should have a nice piece to start with
    I will post further updates in a few weeks
