After David Lee Roth left Van Halen, I always thought Ted Nugent should have been the front man. That would have been interesting. the only conflict would be that both of those guys are known as butt kicking lead guitarists, so it probably wouldn't have worked.

What may have worked was an idea that a friend of mine had. He thought Henry Rollins should be the singer of Van Halen. That could have worked well, because with the more modern guitar sound Eddie was using, it was not a heck of a lot different than the modern guitar sound in songs like Liar.

Wow! I have hard time picturing that. But then again...why not? Rollins has shown in the past that he digs hard bands from the 70s. I see him fitting with VH more than I see VH fitting with him (if that makes sense...said Ive had a few)

I don’t think Henry ever had the humor or good time vibe VH had even in the first album.

But I could hear him doing ace of spades in Motörhead.

I also would like to hear the guitarist and singer from the Hold Steady mix it up with the rhythm section from Soul Coughing.

For real weirdness... I’d love to hear a merge of Yes and The Polyphonic Spree.

I'd like to see Cypress Hill, RATM and Public Enemy get together. Maybe they could be called Prophets of Rage, or something?

David Bowie and Mick Ronson, plus Led Zeppelin minus Robert Plant...and don't let Jimmy Page anywhere near the production/arrangement. Leave that to Tony Visconti and Ronno.

    David Bowie
    Mick Ronson
    Jimmy Page
    John Paul Jones
    John Bonham

It would diminish Bowie/Ronson a little, but it would make Page/Jones/Bonham a helluva lot better, and would probably result in some killer tunes.

Post-DiAnno Iron Maiden with Dio instead of Dickinson. Dickinson ruined Maiden for me...and I am not really into Dio's music, though I think his voice is technically and tonally top notch in the metal genre. Dio would have helped keep post-DiAnno Maiden as more dark, serious, and adult music, while Dickinson basically turned them into a light and fluffy kid's band fronted by a guy has has hands-down terrible technical chops.

Always wondered about a guitarist for Weather Report. Maybe Jeff Beck…
