I spent some time getting my curmudgeon on in another thread so figured I’d like to discuss a lighthearted joy of mine. Columbo, you know the 70’s-early 2000’s t.v detective
Any of you guys watch him still I’ve recently been obsessed with columbo for the last couple years and can’t wait till Sunday night to watch the reruns on the local oldies channel
Any of you guys have a favorite episode

I know this is a far out chance but in a forum of hundreds of people there has to be another fanatic out there

This thread might die fast but heck what is the point of most of our discussions

    I am in !

I used to watch them with my mom (on Saturday evening on French TV)

I watched all of them, still do (have the whole dvd set).
Favorite is probably Any Old Port in the Storm, and all the ones starring Leonard Nimoy or Patrick McGooan.

Oh, and love the one with Johnny Cash, Swann Song.

Watched back then but not in years.
I've seen him in The Princess Bride a few times since then though, a family favorite though the MIL claims to hate it and the rest of us laugh at her for that.

    How about Beretta?

I used to watch it back in the day but I preferred The Rockford Files.
Jim had a cooler car and got more chicks. I watched most of those shows, even Quincey although that was my least favorite.

Peter Falk was so good and carried the show ... obviously, he also had great writers and directors...

Loved the way he drove people nuts and his car. I don’t know the name of the episode. A film maker committed murder and Colombo inserted subliminal frames in a film to trap the bad guy. Good episode.

I watch them repeatedly. Robert Culp was an excellent nemesis, but my fave is the one with John Cassavetes & Gena Rowlands

The one where the killer tied the victim's shoes while being in front and not behind him.

    Never forgot that.

Never liked Columbo. My favorite role for Peter Faulk was as Jack Lemmon's assistant in "The Great Race".

I loved those shows - Columbo, McCloud, Hec Ramsey, and McMillian and Wife.

The Johnny Cash episode is a classic!! Patrick Mcgoohan as the military school commandant is another great one. Jack Cassidy was a great villain in several episodes!
The best part of the show is that you know who did it. The mystery is how Columbo will trick the killer into revealing themselves.

The Most Dangerous Match with Laurence Harvey as a murderer and chess player is great too !

    The best seasons are 1/2/3

There is also one episode with Burt Reynolds, trying to remember which one...

One of my best friends was a Colombo mega fan, so the rest of us had to make our plans around his "Columbo" night back in the 70s. Not sure if I ever sat completely through an episode, but I remember it bored the crap out of me. I knew someone with the same year car. Early 60s Peugeot, right?

Oh wait, I've got one more question.:lol:

In the latter part of the 80's I was invited to NYC for the premier of Wim Wenders Wings Of Desire. Peter Falk played the lead. It's about angels and their lot in life. Falk's often repeated line in the movie was "Hey! Compañeros!"

Being on west coast time I couldn't get to sleep so I went for a walk at about 1:AM. Walking down 5th Ave. I see a fellow walking toward me...Peter Falk...sorta frowning, kinda grumpy.

We just nodded to each other as we pass and when he's about 10 feet past I turn around and called back to him...

    "Hey! Compañero!"

He broke into a huge grin and waved. Then turned and kept on goin...

Columbo is one I'll stop and sit through when spouse is watching. Not because I like the show so much as acknowledging a fellow insomniac.
