Glad you could make it! Great to meet you!
Had a good time hearing the Threadbarons but especially meeting Jakedog. He is a singer-songwriter who is playing with the band while in Denver (i.e. between travels). If anybody knows of a good venue in Denver for an Americana type band like this one let him know. I live near Mile High Stadium and know that Ziggies on 38th is a blues venue. I'm just not that familiar with Denver locations that support live music.
An example of a song they did was "Doreen" by the old 97's.
Definitely a good deal if they are playing somewhere on a night you want to go out.
Thanks Greg! Great to meet you.
Tomorrow night we'll be at Larimer Lounge. 9pm. One set show. Several other acts in the bill.
Other guitar player is out of town, so we'll be three piece.
Playing FoCoMX this year. Anyone else playing or going?
Paul, please pick up the white courtesy phone.
That one should be a lot of fun. I have 2 kids up there at CSU. They would probably think I'm creeping on them if I came up for the shows. Let us know the details once you find out though.
Are you talking to me?
I haven't heard back from FOCOMX so I'm guessing we're not playing, which kind of pisses me off since I know some of the people in the organization and I know we don't suck. On the other hand, we need new pictures and videos for the web site. FB page and get our online and physical press packages together.
I will probably go, and if I can get help with the PA, maybe do sound.
Spring surf....your choice - The Royal Aces will bring the twang and reverb to:
*Rockabillies, 12363 W. 64th - March 18, from 8 to 9 pm
*Park Burger, in the RiNo district at 26th and Walnut- March 25, 8 to 11 pm
I'll be playing Saturday night at the Aggie, 11pm.
I'll try to get over there. You guys and Von Stomper are playing at the same time in two different venues. I've seen them recently and haven't seen you guys in a while.
Von Stomper is awesome, always so much to see. Cheers.
Cool, maybe I'll see some of you up there. We're Friday at Equinox Brewing, 7:30. Ehren, what's your band?
This Friday, March 25.
We just had a fine crowd at Rockabillies - help us keep it going at Park Burger, 26th and Walnut, 8 to 11 pm. Surf on!
Friday 4/1. I'll be solo 9-12 at The North Side Tavern in Broomfield.
NOT an April Fool's joke: The Royal Aces surf band will be playing at Denver's historic Berkeley Inn, 38th and Tennyson, Friday April 1, from 9 pm to 1 am.
I was just at the Berkeley a couple weeks ago! Fun joint.
I agree - we always have an enjoyable gig there..
I'm starting a second band playing bass. The rhythm guitarist has a great bluegrass voice and is a solid player. I'm looking for a drummer and lead guitarist. We're going to do music by and inspired by '70's SoCal Country Rock. (Byrds, Buffalo Springfield, Poco...) We need someone who is Joe Walsh, Don Felder, Bernie Leadon ans Stephen Stills wrapped up in one. They need to be able to sing as well. Lead and harmony. We're up in Fort Collins, so you Denver guys might not want to make the ride, but if you know someone up this way, let me know.
...I've got a nephew who lives not too far away and recently scored himself a thinline MIJ tele, I'll see if I can't persuade him to get out. a few other friends and relatives as well. short notice, but who knows.
Paul, I'd be ALL OVER that. Unfortunately, a lot of things are up in the air right now, and I don't know how much I'm going to be around in the foreseeable future. Tell you what, though- if all this crap gets sorted out and it turns out I'll be around enough to do it, I'm definitely going to call you and hope you haven't found anybody yet!
Until then, I'm gonna hope you do find somebody, because that's a band I wanna go see.
