Thanks a bunch, Paul!
I've been heads down for a while with a new band. Had our first CD release party this weekend, followed by the Denver Rock and Roll Marathon. Now I've got a minute to breathe!
I think the two best amp techs in town are Scooter Barnes and Fat Willie. Scooter works out of his house, and other have mentioned where Lord Valve is. I think the best guitar tech, hands down, is John Baxendale at Colorado Guitar Company on Santa Fe in Littleton. He's always busy and a 2-3 week wait.
New Ben Franklins will be at Gary Lees Motor club on Halloween, and up in Ft Collins on the 7th for our second CD Release show.
Any jams any time soon?
Plan ahead for brews and reverb! Royal Aces surf band at Blue Spruce Brewing, Nov. 7
A very fine brewery, at 4151 East County Line Road. We'll be playing from the nice hours of 7:30 to 9:30 pm.
Royal Aces returning to the late, great Gary Lee's club, Nov. 25
The Royal Aces surf band grieved along with everyone over the tragic death of Gary Lee Bomar. Such a character in the Denver music and restaurant community. His venue - Gary Lee's Motor Club and Grub, 176 S. Broadway - continues to operate as normal, and we feel very privileged to be returning there on Wed., Nov. 25. The night before Thanksgiving! Get your fill of reverb and twang, before you get your fill of turkey.
December surf? Sure...Royal Aces at Daggwood's in Wheat Ridge
Friday, December 4, 8:30 pm, no cover charge. 4990 Ward Road in Wheat Ridge.
I just discovered that John Baxendale has moved Colorado guitars way west, near Durango (iirc). Bummer.
Yeah I saw that the shop was vacant and checked their web site and found that out too. Bummer, but good for John to go focus on custom guitars. He did an incredible job on the neck reset of my old Martin.
Just wanted to check in and say howdy. Who's playing over the holidays and after New Years?
I'm recovering from an unexpected illness but the Colorado Green Band is getting ready for Spring gigs. We have a pedal steel player coming over in a couple of weeks who may become a part of the mix.
I'm also starting a "swing and hokum" band based on Hawaiian string band instrumentation. (bass, guitar, lap steel, uke and percussion). We're looking for a "canary" to handle the vocals and uke. I'm going to play C6 lap steel, so I have a lot of work ahead of me.
If you guys are interested , our band is playing at the Columbine lounge Littleton tomorrow evening December 4th starting g at 8pm.
Classic rock stuff. PM me if you need anymore info
It was big fun at Daggwood's
It's a good gig when they are surf dancing up on the tables...Royal Aces bassist Kevin looks amazed. This was certainly a first for us!
Kevin has that effect on the girls.
Man, don't we know it...there are many stories.
Before I forget Happy Holidays to one an all.
I've just gotten married. Haven't played guitar in a while, but definitely on MY to-do list!
Hope all are well,
Wow Greg congratulations! That's very cool.
Big congratulations from the Royal Aces!
Surfing into 2016 - Royal Aces at Berkeley Inn, Jan. 29
