They did it !
Penn St. better get in the playoffs or the playoff format is a joke.
My guess is it will be a joke.
Ohio State's strength of schedule puts them ahead of Penn State. Well that's what I've heard.
It will probably depend on what the major networks want. Other than Alabama, I don't know who I'd vote for.
I think conference championships are not that meaningful because teams in these huge conferences don't play the same schedule. The fact that Penn State made the conference championship over Ohio State comes down to the Big Ten tiebreaker rules. The tiebreakers don't value out of conference games very highly. But, the committee that selects the four teams for the playoffs values non-conference games very highly.
Penn State beat Ohio State and lost to Michigan. Ohio State lost to Penn State and beat Michigan. Those three teams are all very close in ability, so the in conference results are basically a wash. Ohio State has the best non-conference schedule and a big win over Oklahoma. That is the difference in my mind. I won't be surprised if the committee takes Penn State but I don't think it will happen.
Ohio State not only didn't win their conference Championship, they didn't win their division.
That's what most of the sports writers are pointing out. At least the ones that think Penn State should be in.
What time do they announce it anyway ?
Already announced. 1. Alabama, 2. Clemson, 3. Ohio State, 4. Washington
So it shall be.
Wow! that is disappointing. I watched Penn State win last night and it was a great game to watch.
I'm extra excited that the Buckeyes are in. My neighbors is Cornerback, #12 Denzel Ward. He's a great kid who sadly had his father pass away this year at the age of 46. It was amazing to me that when Denzel was a a star at our high school he could still find the time to shoot hoops with my now 10 year old son. I know he would love to win a title for his Dad.
There were no big surprises in the CG's for the Power 5, the favorite won in each game.
I like the Bammer-UW matchup, I want to see how good the PAC Champ is after Bammer smoked USC early in the season and USC smoked UW late in the season. They both have a good bit of time to recover and practice for the game.
I like the ClemPson-OSU matchup as well.
What this season has done is prove the critics right that there would be debate about injustice with only a Plus-4 model and that they should go ahead and start with 6 or 8 and be done with it.
The bowl season has commenced, but I've not seen any match-ups yet that I wanted to watch. Things start getting a little more interesting on December 30.
Kiffin was taking trash about Tuscaloosa in his most recent interview with SI, and that was probably part of the separation before the championship game (with the tardiness, distraction, and questionable playcalling being the greatest factors).
Predictions on the championship game tonight?
I am tired of them winning, but I predict Bammer. The reason are intangibles: the edge in the coaching staff and the team has been there before and done it. I don't believe Dabo will beat Nick. I also believe that replacing Kiffin will result in a better power running game and better playcalling (no passing when they are gouging the D and should be running).
I do not believe that it will be a blowout, no matter who ends up winning.
Yea...sort of like The Yankees playing in the world series (boring)...same old teams with the same old money
So probably won't watch or just root for underdog
