It is that time of year again, and begins tomorrow night.

There is a surprising number of games on Thursday night, and they trickle into Monday evening. But there are not that many of them to get excited about, unless it is your team.

It appears that the two best on Thursday would be the SC-NC game and then the TCU game (just because TCU is so highly over-ranked at no. 2).

The better Saturday games appear to be the Auburn-Louisville game and then the Bammer-Wisconsin game.

The Monday game is OSU-Va. Tech, which is interesting because OSU won it all last year after taking its only loss against Va. Tech.

During the day I'm flying up to Pittsburgh to watch my son in his very first college game.
    So I am incredibly excited.

But my flight gets back in around 7:30 so I plan to watch the Bama/Wisc game when I get home.

The UA and AU games should be good. If you're both in Atlanta, I'm curious what teams you support. Me, I'm a lifelong diehard Dawg fan.

This may not register on some of your radars, seeing as how there are probably high school teams in this country that could beat the University of Illinois, but it'll be interesting to see what happens with the U of I. For any who haven't heard, they dismissed coach Tim Beckman last Friday after an investigation into allegations of mistreatment of his players.

Yeah I heard about Beckman. Cutting it kind of close to the start of the season, huh?

UGA alumni. Hopefully, there is nothing to get worked up about in the ULM game. It starts at noon and is on the SEC Network, which is common for opening week but bad timing for me.

I heard about the allegations a couple of months ago, and I assume that's when the school started investigating it. I listened to some of the ADs press conference, and from what he said it seemed like the timeline was such that they concluded and wanted to act right away, and it just happened to be about 12 days before the season started.

I'm hoping LSU will have a stellar season this year and Leonard Fournette getting a Heisman.

    Geaux Tigers!

I'll be watching the Penn State Nittany Lions at Temple Saturday at my brother-in-law's place. My wife's whole family will be there, and we're all big Penn State fans.

Harbaugh gets 11 wins at Michigan, and they make it to the 4 team playoff. The dude's a winner, and he's got some talent.

USC will win 7 games & Sark gets fired.

UCLA wins 10 games as they underachieve.

Oregon makes it to the playoff, but gets killed when they meet a team from the SEC.

Cal Poly SLO makes some noise in The BIg Sky conference! :)

Everyone said....he'd come to no good. You knew he would.

But he'll get back...on his feet someday. The good Lord willing.

Notre Dame alumni here, living in Texas, so....

    ND vs Texas Longhorns Saturday

I'll try to watch it, but I am also going to see ZZ Top Sat. night. Historic event, they'll be playing in La Grange, TX (just down the road from me) at the county fair. I wonder what song will send the crowd into a frenzy?

Being a ND fan is frustrating. They have had some decent teams over the past couple of years but just can't quite pull it together. They seem to lower themselves to the level of whomever they are playing - what should be blow outs end up being nail biters.

    Cheers,
    Doug

I'm a big Buckeye fan. I spent many years going to school there. They've got a great chance to repeat. History says "probably not", but if any team can do it, it's this one.

The Utes have not been the same since Oscar Meyer was there. He did a good job for them, and everywhere else he has been.
