I'm going to the UCLA basketball game tonight at Pauley Pavilion with my younger daughter, who hopes to attend (acceptance notices come later this month). I'm a UCLA graduate, but this will be my first time seeing them play in-person.

Spartan here. No expectations, just rooting for them as always. As long as we keep the tourney streak going, I'm pretty happy.

Hard schedule this year so I think the team is performing better than what the numbers show. However, there have been some really ugly stretches of "basketball" here and there, and Iowa's monster comeback was pretty frustrating to watch.

UCLA was trailing by 2 late in the first half, but thy turned it into a blowout in the second.

From the cheap seats:

I don't really watch pro basketball. I watch college basketball when UCLA is playing well. I like being on college campuses because they have a youthful buzzy energy, and I return to UCLA regularly, usually for no particular reason.

I usually park in Lot 3 at the northeast tip of the campus, above the film department, where most of my classes were. But tonight I decided to try to do it right and asked my nav to take me to one of the suggested parking lots for Pauley Pavilion, Lot 4. Unfortunately, it heard "four" as "for" and sent me to Lot 32, below campus in Westwood. That wouldn't have been so bad, but it was permit parking only. Then I had to fight my way through traffic to one of the proper lots, which took forever, and once I got there, it was impossible to find a space, so I ended up parking in Lot 3, as I always do, and we booked it down to Pauley on the southwestern edge of campus, taking on 10-12 minutes to make what my daughter's phone said would be a 35-minute walk. Anyway... that was a bit of a tangent.

Those seats look pretty good to me!

I watch a little bit of the pros as it gets deeper into the playoffs but they clearly don't care about the regular season (eg, load management) so yeah, doesn't hold much interest for me. Have always preferred the college game.
