I loved her Supreme Court segments on NPR. Very thorough reporting on decisions with none of the editorializing that so many of today's "journalists" get wrapped up in doing. A straight up professional no nonsense journalist. Maybe the last of a breed. I'll miss her. RIP Cokie.

Cokie's father, Hale Boggs, was a member of the Warren Commission and was the Majority Leader of the U. S. House of Representatives when the small airplane in which he was traveling disappeared without a trace in Alaska in October 1972.

Yes, she once talked of how her father was friends with Gerald Ford who was House Minority leader and their families spent time together. She said that they would argue against one another on the house floor and then go to lunch together to try and reach an agreement. I loved to hear her talk about such interesting topics.

I heard loads of Cokie's analysis and commentary over the years. I never heard her mention her brother, Tommy Boggs, at all. He was an interesting character inside Washington D.C. So was Cokie.

    Articulate, incisive reporting.
None better. She and Nina Tottenberg as a one-two punch were as good as it gets.
    She will be much missed.

I think that's why you're seeing such an outpouring today. There have been and are a lot of good journalists, but she was just always someone who seemed so incredibly decent and, just downright nice. She had one of the great smiles and I think a smile tells you a lot about a person. I've been watching her since I was a teenage, so basically as long as I've been following news.

    RIP

Rare combination of wit, brevity, soul, integrity, gravitas and curiosity. All while being relatable and entertaining. Amazing. Trailblazer. R.I.P.

She was an experienced insider the moment she started her career in journalism, growing up with a famous Congressman as a father. She knew everyone and knew the game of gaining information. I could always trust her professional reporting. @getbent is spot on mentioning her with Sam Donaldson as the golden era of reporting in D.C.

    RIP Cokie.

I seldom agreed with her but deeply respected her as a journalist and enjoyed her commentary. RIP Mrs. Roberts!

I got to meet her mom on a number of occasions, but I never did meet Cokie or her siblings. She came from a family with a real sense of public duty to service, and a strong sense of integrity and fair play. Lindy sure made my parents and my siblings and I feel welcome in New Orleans.

Wow, this family has been dealt some hard knocks. As mentioned above, Hale died fairly young, but also Cokie's sister Barbara Boggs Sigmund died of cancer at only 51. Ms. Sigmund had been mayor of Princeton, NJ.
