    No offense taken.

I'm not sure whether you're right or wrong (and it doesn't really worry me either way). I actually think it may be real, but that the neck finish on this particular guitar has been unusually susceptible to wear for some unknown reason.

    I'm with Telemarkman. No offense.

    That wear isn't correct.

I've been wearing out guitars for 35 years. That ain't where they wear.

    No offense.

What a bevy of beauties!! I don't have any pics of mine, but no matter, this thread qualifies as most drool-worthy ever.

Here's a closer view of the Copper 52RI neck...

I don't why you would do this to a guitar....if it isn't natural wear from extreme bending of course...

I will have to take some new photos and upload them later. As much as I hate to say it, I don't know if I have any, at least not decent ones.

Mine are a 1997 (butterscotch, of course) and a 60th Ann. inlay.

    Nice thread, Fred D.!

I guess it must have appealed to the original owner. For what it's worth, at the fifth fret of my '97 I have wear similar to yours on the second fret. Mine is under the E and B strings. It started off as the result from a smaller ding--previous owner, who bashed it around in clubs a bit--and has spread, especially over the past couple of years. It's kind of annoying since it's only on one fret, but c'est la vie, I suppose. I love that guitar; it's usually the one I pick up instinctively.

This is Harahan, the one I got second, in November, 2007.

Two piece, not particularly light, sounds great.

It has been hiding out in Florida.

Here's mine. I think it's a 2006, although not sure. Nice and light, a joy to play.

it is not that it is worn, but it is worn in the same spot all the way up the neck and too much in the middle... usually, the wear marks almost look the way scales look where there is more wear in the cowboy chord area and more on the ebg strings... the wear on your neck has very little on the high E.

In regular use the high E and B get more wear than the low e past the 5th fret or the A or the D...

    it is a beautiful guitar!

Cheesehead that combo is sweet isn't it? I had a DRRI last year before I traded it to a TRRI and it was a lovely sounding rig with the old 52ri tele
