Has anyone any experience with experimenting with these rather strange tubes?
Eric Barbour, the tube synthesizer buff wrote this interesting article, describing using them as a soft audio clipper; (see second half of the article)

    USING SPECIAL BEAM-DEFLECTION TUBES

Sounds interesting. I picked up two of the tubes..they are dirt cheap, and will try to get around to experimenting soon. They are common nine pin tubes with a .3A filament draw, and modest current draw, so there is no great demands on the power supply.

I've started drawing up a few schems for a test breadboard to mess around with variable parameters, and then see wether it is worth pursuing further.
