Clifford Brown & Art Farmer with the Swedish All Stars
As a jazz fan of a certain era, I wish he had lived until at least 1960. He was great, but the best was yet to come.
I, of course wished he had lived, but CB was far too good of a musician to involve himself with free jazz garbage.
I totally agree. What I meant was that I wanted a 1959 Clifford Brown album. That was the best year by far for jazz and before it was ruined by the likes of free jazz. You and I are on the same page.I, of course wished he had lived, but CB was far too good of a musician to involve himself with free jazz garbage.
Incredible tasty player, so subtle he could make you cry with joy. Never did get to hear him play live. Did hear Miles and Freddie Hubbard several times at Shelly's Manhole in LA in 1970 though. Too bad there aren't any Jazz clubs like that around anymore except in NYC and Chicago. Where I live the only Jazz stations are on SIRIUS.
