I, of course wished he had lived, but CB was far too good of a musician to involve himself with free jazz garbage.
I totally agree. What I meant was that I wanted a 1959 Clifford Brown album. That was the best year by far for jazz and before it was ruined by the likes of free jazz. You and I are on the same page. ;)

Incredible tasty player, so subtle he could make you cry with joy. Never did get to hear him play live. Did hear Miles and Freddie Hubbard several times at Shelly's Manhole in LA in 1970 though. Too bad there aren't any Jazz clubs like that around anymore except in NYC and Chicago. Where I live the only Jazz stations are on SIRIUS.

We are so fortunate to have a local community radio station, KKFI 90.1. They have two hours of jazz every weekday afternoon from 1-3 (central). Four of the five hosts are working musicians. It is online and shows are archived for two weeks following the broadcast.
I really need to donate more.
