clear over spray painted graphic

    want to spray paint a graphic on top of the current paint job. not trying to use nitro. what kinda clear is best for a spot job? never used an tung oil or shellac. should i consider those?

    No. Both will yellow over time.
    What is the base under the graphic snd what material is the graphic?
    The forum needs to know in order to advise you ( I phrase it this way because I may not know...)

    Minwax poly also yellows an awful lot.
    I doubt any kind of oil would do anything as a protective finish.

    im spray painting a stencil and want to keep things minimal with the paint. just the top of the guitar so I was curious if there was a preferred way to cover only a portion of the body

    Clean/dewax with naptha, lay down the stencil, spray a shellac primer coat and when dry spray your stencil color.
    Unless you tell us what finish you’re spraying onto, no one can give you a specific answer.

    clear lacquer. I'm using a "brush on only" from Ace hardware... and it sprays fine (with thinner) an looks clear and great. I build my graphic layers using that as a barrier in between the art changes, then I finish with Deltron 2024
