    Hi guy! I just wax potted my first pickups and I'm wondering what do you use to remove the unwanted wax on the top and bottom of the pickup?

    Thanks

    I usually wipe it off with a paper towel as soon as possible (ie when they wont burn me...) if the wax is too hard to wipe off, then you could always pot with pickup again (just so the wax you want to remove is melted) and then take it out and wipe it (but oinly when it is cool because it will burn...)

    A little denatured alcohol on the paper towel will help.

    Hair dryer (-;
    That's what I use when I need to peel a wire off of a parafin/wax potted pu for repair or DCR calibration.

    I didn't think a hair dryer would be hot enough! I'll give it a try!

    Thank you

    If you want to remove all trace of wax, a mixture of tolulene and methyl ethyl ketone will dissolve every last bit.
