It did work with the 2009 TV, but not lately.

Works great with the 2014 TV.

I think it has to do with HDCP (copy protection) protocols being updated on the Chromecast. The newer TV can handle HDCP, not the older one. Advice re fix for older TV seems to be to get a powered splitter - 15 to 20 bucks - which somehow blocks the copy protection.

Sorry to bore you with this s__t, but TDPRI members have a wide range of expertise; any perspective out there on Chromecast vs. old/new TVs? Best answer is to buy a new TV, but not if I can help it. Thanks!

The hardware doesn't support what you want. You need new hardware, be it the 15 dollar splitter or a new TV. 11 years old is ancient in modern technology.

I have 2 relatively newer tv's. On my Toshiba it does not always work, sometimes I need to reboot the TV. The cheap Hismart seems to work every time.
