Well, it was 5:30am in Colorado Springs when you posted that. I'm actually impressed, I can barely form sentences that early...

I just needed to make sure, so I didn't spend hours trying to find Johnny Mathis' deep-cut definitive version of "Feliz Navidad"

Jose wrote Feliz Navidad in ten minutes and recorded it on the first take. He accompanied himself on a cuatro, a ten-string instrument.

The first song that comes to mind from the OPs question is a song from Tennessean Amy Grant, "Tennessee Christmas." It was written from her real feelings, being a profound homebody from Tennessee. However, the album that it came from contains a profound irony: In "Tennessee Christmas" she sing of knowing that "there's more snow up in Colorado than my roof is ever gonna see." She knows that well. That album was recorded at Caribou Ranch Recording Studio in Nederland, CO and the cover was shot with the studio in the background. Amy was the last client to record there before a fire closed the studio.

By the way, being from Tennessee, "Tennessee Christmas" has always been close to heart but any Christmas with my wife is even closer.

This thread hit my three favourite Christmas songs. Baby Please Come Home by Darlene Love (Any Letterman live version), Santa Claus is Coming to Town (Springsteen) and finally the Pogues - Fairytale of New York. Rounding out my top five would be the Eagles - Please Come Home for Christmas and finally Mariah Carey - All I Want for Christmas is You. Mariah Carey's song entered the canon of Christmas songs by surprise about 10 years ago for me. I also like the Phil Spector "wall of sound" production to the song.

    Great seasonal thread!

I've got to agree, regarding Frank. He owned every song he sung. Christmas themed, or not.

Brenda Lee's vocals and Hank Garland's guitar work are perfect.

John Lennon's 'So this is Christmas' ... but also makes me sad. As in so many of his songs, near impossible to get close to reproducing it correctly. Moment of silence for him, ok .... moment over.

I dont listen to any of it. Most is just part of the wallpaper music that no one really listens to anyway..
