Not a Chritine McVie song, heck it's not even from the Rumours era line up from the band, but it fits so well here.

When Gilmour starts to take you on a journey with his solo (Like only he can do) I can so see Christine meet up with Peter Green and Bob Welch in the afterworld.

She was one of those who reminded us how special music really is - that magic might exist, the power of subtle or less as more. No way could Rumors be one of the all time best sellers without her in it.

Special within the most played popular music is I cannot recall songs she was part of being ones I would switch/change to something else. That says a lot when you graduated from class of '77.

Thank you and RIP Christine.

Always loved this, Chickenshack were one of my early influences.

Yes, I loved Chicken Shack too, and especially that song.
I only saw FM once, Green's Playhouse, Glasgow when she joined just after Peter Green left.
Her name (Christine Perfect) was printed on the ticket as a guest artist which was then blanked out for unknown reasons, maybe contractural? But holding it up to the light you could still make out her name.
I cannot bear Stevie's vocals but Christine's were always worth suffering for.

One thought occurred to me that made me laugh and I think CM would too: She wrote 'You make loving fun' about a relationship OTHER than with her ex husband, then he had to play the tune for the 30 years... that is pretty funny.
Yes, that's part of the stuff that always had me consider her special in the band. Most of the being truly special came from how much play the music has had and not having the urge to change it like so much other popular stuff.

The heyday was all the band as one but I can't believe it could have been as great without her.

sorta like how Joey Ramone wrote "The KKK Took My Baby Away" about Johnny stealing his girlfriend

Sad news. She was a much stronger writer, vocalist and musician than Stevie (who basically just wrote the same song over and over), but lived a little in the shadow of the huge stage presence that Stevie brought.

I don't want to knock Nicks' songwriting skills--Dreams, Beautiful Child, Rhiannon, Gold Dust Woman, The Chain, Edge of Seventeen, Gypsy, Sara, Landslide, Storms, etc etc... Some pretty dang good songs in my opinion, and hardly 'the same song over and over.' (again, my opinion).

But I was always team Christine from very early on. Never cared for Stevie's vocals and I thought Christine had a beautiful voice that fit her pop sensibilities so well.

haha true. And Stevie had to do backing vocals on "Go Your Own Way" for all those decades as well (pretty sure Lyndsey wrote that about her).

I have been having discussions with family members of late about this whole #team thing within families (and bands are like families)

How extended families function in a positive way is that they band together as a single tribe and support and love each other as we go through the world individually and work toward goals, overcome adversity etc.

What makes bands great is when they do the same. FM took it to the extreme in coupling, uncoupling, recoupling... maybe that tension plus that talent produced so many successful songs... I just see the whole rooting for one member over the other as kind of 'missing it' and by doing it, you doom the band (not that they are influenced by us) but bands are always being pulled apart when the band needs to focus on being supportive from within.

There ARE bands that have lasted for years by doing this.

Fair, probably not the best choice of words for me to say I was "team Christine." I was just always more drawn to her singing and songs. And holy sh*t did I find her to be incredibly sexy.

Truth told, Lyndsey is probably my favorite Mac member--such an underrated guitarist and great songwriter too... but man I hated how good looking he was back in the day  (my GF in high school woulda totally ditched me for him haha)

no worries. I am kind of going through family stuff and I hate the side taking stuff.

I loved the pics of Christine on the white album and rumors and agree, I found her very attractive. I also had the topless pic of Stevie, so, ever the opportunist, I imagined taking Lindsey's place and having a 'trio' bow chicka wow wow (I was 17)

I miss being 17 and I miss all of that. I grieve our loss of CM and our own loss of youth and innocence...
