just doesn't get enough respect...IMO
A great great rhythm guitarist male or female.
First for me, great performer.
WOW what a backing band! LOL
Everybody in the song was great.
When I hear her sing, I also think of Etta James.
Ever since my teens I've had a thing about Chrissi Hynde. The fringe, the eye-liner & the hair just gets me.
Though I've read many stories that she's a real PITA to get along with.............. and I do like my bacon butties.
oh yea>> saw her walking down 57th St in NYC back in the 80's.. followed her into a store, very stealth, of course, just to observe in total reverence, wonder, and awe for a few minutes~~~ ahhhhhh......
she can whoop just about anybody's arse, fo' sho!
the REAL female deal)))
Gotta be Tom Petty's sister by a differen't mister!
Chrissies twin guitar with jimmy scot on the first lps was sensational. Check Chrissie out here......
I'm a total fanboy.
Smart, tuff, cool rock chick.
She always has great players in her band, and she writes
I just started playing with a gal who does a bunch of Pretenders.
It's been great getting reacquainted with the songs.
She's one of the most revered musicians on this web site, that's for sure. She's also on every list of greatest female rock artists and greatest female guitarists. She's in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. She's been nominated for Grammy Awards. She gets invited to "all-star" concerts and other people's albums, including Frank Sinatra.
How much more respect should she get?
I saw Chrissie on tour with Neil Young. For me it was like rock and roll royalty.
She's amazing. Hearing that voice live was something that I'll never forget.
That performance was from the Bob Dylan 30th anniversary concert.
She can go toe to toe with anybody anywhere! love that voice..
Great album. Just dug it out agin recently. Some really interesting playing, with off rhythms and time sigs.
Can hear plenty of nice tele rhythm on there, and assuming that's mostly her.
Chrissie Hynde... Hell yeah!!!
I think she's highly respected -- and rightly so.
thanks frode, I knew it was something special when I saw Paul Shaffer and GE Smith
I'll have to watch again and see who else I can spot. Im usually like "oh look, there is whatshisname" and remember the name 3 days later.
I'm a fan, but I see a lot of unfulfilled promise there, too. In some ways, she gets too much respect. She's done good stuff over the decades, but the band hasn't felt like a band since Pretenders Mach II fell apart during the recording of "Get Close" and the good stuff has been surrounded by too much ho-hum.
As for her being hot... I say enjoy what you're able to enjoy, but what I see is a lot of scary hidden (less effectively as the years have passed) by grooming and 'tude.
