It was fantastic. Best anthem I've heard in awhile.

My wife said "he plays a tele!" (like you)... I said no he doesn't. yes, that's a tele but he plays a Jazzmaster, I suspect he's playing THAT tele because it has electronics in it (humbucking pickups, but she doesn't know what that is) that reduce hum and noise, and since he's in a huge stadium with a thousand lights, and it's just him and a guitar, he wanted it to be as noise-free as possible".

It sure sounded like a baritone Tele.

Baritone Tele, Brownie Princeton, swampy tremolo, nailed the high notes. Pretty epic performance.

Yeah it was pretty good, a little overdone
Glad to see someone agrees with me. Very good performance, FAR better than most. But it was a bit oversung. I've always maintained that if you want to hear the Anthem performed correctly, correct tempo, meter, etc. listen to it performed by one of the branches of the military. They nail it every time, and it is NOT easy, and that has nothing to do with the high notes.

I first heard of Chris Stapleton when he was in the SteelDrivers, which was the very definition of a super group.

But I gotta admit, as great as he is, I get the same level of listener’s exhaustion, while listening to him as I do with Susan Tedeschi.

And yet, while all three of them are on the same tree, I never get that with Bonnie Raitt…

I don't know if you're aware of this or not, but they didn't invite one of the hranches of the military, they invited Chris Stapleton. My apologies, tho, if this is the first time you've ever heard him.

WOW!!! One for the ages!! Amazing!!

And yet we are frequently told here on TDPRI that amps like the Princeton Reverb (and Deluxe Reverb, etc. etc.) are "too small to gig with." 🤣

Almost any amp is "gigable", even a Vibro Champ, if you mike it. Most comments regarding the PR and DR not being adequate are referring to un-miked performances in larger venues or outdoor gigs.

Heard him lots, his performance was better than 99% of Anthem performances, and he may well be the savior of country music, really. I just feel that of all songs, the Anthem grants little leeway for tempo alterations.
