There are other options other than water. That is posturing, until the right assets are brought in.
I think it was Tim Leary.
oh man, a plant full of brakeclean would, you know, make a big boom. I love brakeclean too... it works.
I sense a lot of chemical hate here… but, what would we be without chemicals? Just a blob of useless inert juices without guitars ‘cause we couldn’t support them!
Creative thinking at its finest. We don’t want to put the chemical fire out because chemicals may get into the River. News flash pal...it’s already too late.
It's in Rockton, IL a few miles south of the Wisconsin border. I live about 3 miles away. Luckily for us wind is blowing it away from our location. Reports now are that other buildings in Rockton are on fire due to falling ash and debris.
This is the view from our bathroom window:
I'm confused. Isn't this basically in Rockford, IL?
It's about 15 miles north of Rockford, just south of the Wisconsin border.
Bout 15 miles away.
Oh man.... wow.... glad ya'll are ok. Yeah, seems there's always calateral damage around things like this. Hope everyone is ok out there. Be safe!
We had a fire like that here back in 2004. Some dope with a bad attitude set fire to some chemicals at a factory where he'd just been fired from. I could see actual flames at my house 6 miles away.
Sad for all.
In related news: Maine has agreed to accept waste from other states where land and human life has higher value!
Developing story: residents in states that are too dirty and over developed are all buying land in Maine where it's cleaner and less populated.
What could possibly go wrong?
it’s good for starting engines too.
Why are they allowed to build or continue to operate chemical plants next to rivers? Anyone else think things like this are a poor idea?
Who is they?
you need a time machine. When we started making chemicals, the idea was to dump the waste INTO the river to save money (maybe) not realizing the longterm (and immediate) negative impacts.
It is like appearing in blackface, Al Jolson wasn't thinking like we think NOW, he was thinking like people thought then.
This factory has been around a long time.....
I don't know but I'm not sure it really matters in the end. These things happen and it's just a risk we all accept for our modern living. IMO it's that simple.
aaawwwk! oh my, that's terrible on so many levels. Shelter in place stay in doors , bring pets in. Bless yall I hope your as safe as can be safe under the circumstances.
I'd like to see the fire inspection records of the place.
