Chemical plant goes kaboom. A chemical plant in Milwaukee burst into flame today here’s a picture of what I’m seeing on TV. They Brandon fire trucks all the way from Illinois there’s over 160 fire trucks there and they’re afraid to touch the flame because of what costa chemicals could be in the air from the chemicals burning. They’ve made everyone within the neighborhood leave their homes for at least four hours and all the schools are canceled and they sent the children home with their parents. The chief of the fire department said they’re just gonna let it burn because they’re afraid if they put the fire out chemicals will run into a nearby river and kill everything in the river. Isn’t that dandy?

How do you like to have a house near that? I’m kind of glad with the new job I’ll be moving to Appleton. This town is getting weird.

Good to see there was advance planning for a major fire at the plant. Corporations always spend to ensure safety in case of disaster. /s

I'm pretty sure that place is by the WI and IL border between South Beloit and Rockford not either of Milwaukee or Chicago where there have been news reports. In my "prior life" I recall it was a lubrication and metal working products plant.

I have no idea what they make now, but I used to haul barrels of stuff that required marking the semi as combustible.

I saw a bit of it on the news, apparently they are a big manufacturer/supplier of automotive grease.

A while back a plant in La went up and the cost of chlorine tablets is skyrocketing.

Ok so I looked up their products and looks like they make the B-12 Carb/injector cleaners as well as several other like products such a brake cleaners, fuel system cleaners, and such like. Don't know how wide spread their products are in terms of rebranded etc. but looks like one brand they supplied a lot to was Berryman's. Not sure who else... maybe someone out here has more info. Also sounds like everyone got out in time so, at this moment, no one's been hurt thankfully!

Nothing compared to the Ti production or silicone chip plants as far as environmental impact.
    Good hot fire

Oh yeah... no doubt.... just sayin' from the immediate blast and fire there's not been any injured via the news report I read anyway, so that's some good news in the short term at least.

Besides pollute the environment and blow up, what do you expect a chemical plant to do?

The explosion was more likely due to the propellants and solvents used rather the product itself.

Checking Facebook, I see what I feared - a friend who lost her son in a tragedy's family lives near it and is evacuated for now. I'm guessing they'll be fine but that wonderful woman's had too much tragedy in her life for all the good and constant helping she does.
