I had a great time last night, headed out to Rudyard's here in Houston to see Mary Cutrufello and meet our own Jakedog (aka G.S. Harper) who is playing bass and touring with her on a one week tour thru Texas.

Wow Mary was awesome!!! Playing an 80s Japanese Tele plugged into Jake's Splawn Amp, it all sounded wonderful.

Got to hang out afterwords and meet Jake and Mary, nicest people!! You can tell that Jake belongs on a stage, he was having a great time and his bass playing was outstanding too. This was their first night on the Texas swing and I couldn't believe how tight they were.

There really is a big difference between the life long big boys and girls who do this for a living and the part time amateurs like me lol. :D But ya really had a wonderful time last night, and hopefully Jakedog will pass thru Houston again soon.

Mary and the boys will be in Austin tonight Thursday 4/23 at The Roost @ 7PM and at The Continental Club at Midnight. They then head to Poodies Roadhouse in Spicewood Friday @ 10:30pm , Dan's Silverleaf in Denton @ 8pm on Saturday, and finally Fred's Texas Cafe on Sunday in Ft. Worth.

Here are some videos I took last night on my phone. Hope ya'll can get out to meet Mary and JakeDog.

Thanks BB for putting that up. What a damn nice sound! That bass player seems to know all the material fairly good for a hired gun...LOL!

What the hell...don't people dance in Texas? Or is dancing no longer cool?

    Kudos to Mary and Jakedog!

Exactly! All that and more.... I had never heard of Ms Cutrofello before either but I was like WOW thats the real deal there. She's had a long career with ups and downs but man did she bring it last night. Check out her website and try to see her if you can. Us Telecaster players gota get out and support our own. :D

And Jakedog is the nicest, funniest coolest guy you too would ever want to meet lol! Really enjoyed visiting with him. I bought CDs from both Mary and Jake, looking forward to hearing their songs again.

Poor Jake was soaking his right hand in a tall glass of ice water after the show, he said he had some blisters, that it had been awhile since he's gotten to tour playing the bass (his first instrument). But man could he throw it down, and his singing and harmonizing were outstanding too.

    Fun times....

Drummer is Greg Schutte, from Minneapolis. He's Mary's producer in the studio, and also plays with the Mickey Hart band.
