Looks like a nice copy from the pictures he provided.
    I don't have a guitar with mini-humbuckers but I do have a particular weakness for 335s

I’d rather save my money for an epi than touch a chibson. Or go for some old japanese copy. I think that’s just asking for some catastrophe down the line. And your tech will hate you for asking him to polish a turd, hahaha.

Yeah, it has the potential to be a real turd.

I'm worried about the frets and the straightness of the neck

But it sounds like the seller's done a lot of dirty work on this one. He says he put in Gibson pickups, new pots, wiring, input jack, switch, and tuners.

Can't speak for the rest of the guitar, but the minihums are great sounding pickups!

The Chinese copies are not only illegal, but they suck. I have played a few of them and Epiphones are better.

The fact that someone is stealing the Gibson name for illegal profit is inexcusable, and I would never buy anything from anyone doing this kind of thing. It's fundamentally wrong.

Think forward to the number of times someone will see this guitar and say, "Gibson, eh?" And then you'll have to explain. For me, the entire experience would be tainted and I would never be able to enjoy the guitar.

    Bad mojo.

I would also consider what the others suggested, check out a more reputable copy brand. Epi's look awesome really.

At the risk of sounding like an echo chamber, I wouldn't take that home to burn it in my wood stove except it would take one more counterfeit guitar out of circulation.

I bought a "Gibson" off Ebay in about 2001. Reportedly a Ibanez. A 335/355 copy with the Gibson name inlaid on the headstock like that one. it was a fancier model, Gold hardware, Super 58 pickups, triple binding. it was actually a great guitar. Sold it many years later, wish I hadn't. Tried several 335's , Epi, Ibanez, Gibson since .....none as good.

Supporting illegal things is generally bad, even if you aren't the original buyer.

I have an Eastman T-486 that i really dig.
The Chibson would be my number two 335 style guitar, something to take to rehearsals and gigs in less than ideal parts of town. 60CC1217-03E7-443E-AEC6-7B17BD8F1045_1_105_c.jpeg 60CC1217-03E7-443E-AEC6-7B17BD8F1045_1_105_c.jpeg

Nope, I can’t get behind that. Chibsons, Chenders, et. al., suck. The whole concept taints the used market. I’d feel like a ridiculous poseur with one in front of an audience.

I met the seller today and had to pass. The thing needed fret work and a new nut... at least.
I felt bad for the seller. He seemed like a nice guy that poured a lot of money into the wrong guitar.

Well, he evidently bought it. Got what he paid for I guess.

You would be far better off with an Epi anyway. And at least it would be legal.

This is one instance where Gibson really should file suit. Maybe they have already.

An Epiphone would be better. Or, OP could search out amazing used MIJ copies that don’t sell themselves as rip-offs. I had a Vantage VSH-445, a Matsumoku copy that punched far above its weight. They sell for under $1000 and are worth every penny.

If you want a semi-solid with minis, Epiphone has just reissued the Riviera. A friend of mine who usually won't touch anything not American made just bought one, and he loves it.
