My 25'' guitar is not a Byrdland. It is a Gibson L-5. Built the same as a Byrdland except 3.25'' wide body thickness vs the Byrdland 2.25'' body.

Made especially for a small-framed fella, Billy Byrd, I think. Hank Garland was in on it too.

The Byrdland was developed as a "hot rodded" Gibson L5. Thinner body and a shorter scale for easier chording, faster playing. The guitar will do everything from Twang to Ted.

I have gone to town on two Epiphone guitars. I had the finish removed from a LP EPI, new tuners, tone pros bridge and tail, Frailin oure PAFS; a very passable Les Paul. I took a Casino Coupe, new tuners, bridge, upgraded pickups. A tremendous elevation in handling and tone on both guitars. Epi Byrdland is a perfect candidate.

Interesting, is it more like the George Gobel thinline L5 then?

Right. I have seen the original 1957 Gibson Byrdland add where it's described like that(except for the Ted part).
