I have a few cheap lipstick pickups lying around that I bought a while back on amazon for $16 apiece. They're not strati size so I ended up not ever getting around to using them. They're actually wide like regular lipsticks but they mount to the pickguard like strat pickups. I was thinking of trying them in a bass, maybe hard-wired in series. Anybody ever do anything like that? If so, any findings to report? thanks!

I put one in my Bronco. Very quiet. Did the job just fine.

I eventually replaced it with a Cavalier P-51.

Well, it took a while to get around to it but I can report back that the cheap strat pickup sized artec alnico 5 lipstick pickup works well in a vintage musicmaster bass. It replaced a Fralin split rail pickup that had a 7.5 radius, which made the pickup too far away from the E and G strings. I didn't try 2 in series, because the pickguard just had a spot for one, and one sounded great. Still curious about 2!
