New Guitar Day again... Big thanks to my longtime friend Greg for gifting me with this super-rare Charvel Surfcaster Acoustic. The body is so tiny compared to a normal acoustic, but fun to play. The acoustic sound... eh. Not gonna lie, very boxy. Electric is better, but let's just say better is a relative term here. Damn fun to play though.

Back in the early days of our firepit duo, Buckarat, Greg and I were both into Surfcasters. He said he wanted this to be in my collection. Looks right at home with my other Surfies.

Nice. Always wanted to try a Surfcaster (one of the lipstick pickups ones) but I’ve never seen one in The Real World.

Nice guitar. I checked it out on reverb and see Eastman makes a similar version.

David Lowery of Cracker used to play one, until it was stolen

I had one in 1993 with the lipstick pickups. It was actually a great little guitar. That acoustic is very cool.

I believe you mean Eastwood, and yes, they are making a version of the Surfcaster electric. Mixed reviews...

My green electric Surfie is actually not a Charvel; it's a tribute version from the mid-2000s by a luthier in Wisconsin called GRB. Excellent quality, and the humbucker was a common mod for the thin-sounding lipsticks.

    Case in point, David Lowry...

Beautiful guitars. Nice collection. The bass is especially interesting.

A store I worked at in the early 90s had two Surfcaster acoustic/electric basses. Not the version with lipsticks... a deeper body, the cat's eye hole and a preamp on the side, much like your guitar.

They were a blast to play, but I've never seen another like them. Not even a picture.

I played one of those acoustic basses right after I bought my semi-acoustic but didn't have the cash at the time.

Surfcasters seem to be getting rarer by the day, so I'll be hanging on to these three. The flame on the bass is amazing.
