I was looking at an interesting guitar, a Charvel 625c in natural finish. Looks like this one:

I didn't know Charvel even made acoustics until I saw this. The guitar looks nice, but the damned thing is fretless! There are lines where the frets would be, and it doesn't look like anything was removed (wouldn't the frets, if they were ever there, have been sunken into the fretboard?).

So is this a thing? Does anyone know anything about this model?

Judging by the logo, that was probably from Charvel's pre-Fender ownership. Not the best period in the company's history.

I’ll take a pre-Fender Charvel over anything they’ve made since they were bought. They make some really nice guitars now, but compared to back then? No contest. The pre-Fender MIJ stuff and the pre MIJ, US stuff were some seriously great guitars.

That said, their acoustics are stinkers. Nothing to write home about at all.

I came into one of those about 10 yrs. ago or so as part of a trade and at the time I didn't know they made acoustics either. Don't know why in the world I took it in, because the guitar absolutely sucked, and I practically gave it away about a week later.

And for a contrary opinion to the previous one, I had one of these in the mid 1990s and sold it for a Guild D4. Biggest mistake I ever made! That 625c played and sounded great. And yes, it came from the factory WITH frets.

I believe it’s a plywood guitar. None of the body woods are solid. Elderly sold an early 90’s model with a hard case recently for $245.

This is just a worthless opinion but I don’t care for acoustics with goofy body shapes. I play a lot of acoustic and I suppose I’m a traditionalist. That guitar looks like something that a heavy metal player would buy to look cool playing one acoustic tune.

With the frets pulled I think it could be worth $100.
