"Speaking about Bowie’s death in 2016, Watts said that he was surprised by the outpouring of grief. “I thought people would have been very sad obviously, and he was a lovely guy and he wrote a couple of good songs,” Watts explained. “But for me, he wasn’t this musical genius.”" -NME

I read that. Makes Charlie sound like a complete and total imbecile. Listen to 'Life on Mars' and tell me the man wasn't a genius? A few good songs???

Rule number 14: "Never speak ill of the dead."

That's right after " Never take your mistress to your wife's favorite restaurant. "

Today i've been talking about that stupid thing he said, i don't want to say if Bowie was or was not a genious, i don't even care, Bowie to me is the man that has turned my life into music, i know his music extremely well and even though someone may not like him you can't say that he wrote a couple of good songs, if you do it it means that your brain is leaving you, the other option is that your taste in music is very very bad.
I'm sorry Charlie, it's better to shut up if you've got nothing to say.

Well, he is a drummer. You know, those people that hang out with musicians.

Charlie is a damn good drummer a great band member and a jazz aficionado. He is not someone I would go to to assess a multifaceted artists such as David Bowie.

Given that his taste is apparently very much Jazz orientated, as hard as it is to believe he probably doesn't listen to mainstream music.

If that is the case then he may only be aware of the few mega songs that broke through may very well be all he is aware of....

What's the last thing a drummer says before getting kicked out of the band?

"I've been working on some songs of my own..."

Lots of people have their own opinion. lots of opinions don't exactly line up with one's own.
should they all just shut up?

Quick look for stupid statements by Mick, Ronnie, Brian and that other Mick
and then we can tell the whole band to shut up and play.

Hey wait what about the sidemen and backup singers? Ry Cooder the wives the girlfriends Allen Klein
    the list could be endless.

I don’t think he was a genius either, but he was a great performer and singer and certainly wrote more than just a few good songs.

I always thought Charlie Watts sucked as a drummer. Boring and basic.
