Who is that on the LP? Looks like Steve Wariner.

The Great Charlie Rich. Hard to believe that someone that famous is still somehow under appreciated and underrated. A masterful singer, and one bad a** piano player.

I think CR also wrote "Big Boss Man." Again, genius!

Big Boss Man is a Jimmy Reed tune.

I love that song, and play it most Friday nights. Mohair Sam also gets a lot of play at my gigs.

I know Reed recorded it, but I checked, and it's credited to neither Charlie nor Jimmy, but Luther Dixon and Al Smith.

    I didn't know that, thanks.
Smith was Reed's manager, Dixon was a contract writer for Vee-Jay records.

Which, as we know from seeing that half or more of the songs on Chess were "written" by one of the Chess brothers, probably means "Big Boss Man" WAS probably actually written by Jimmy Reed, but his manager and a VeeJay staff writer were nice enough to take over the complicated process of collecting royalties...
