Charcoal for me. The flavor is worth the extra effort, IMHO.
I've been grilling since 1976 when mom and dad would go out of town for the weekend. My friends would come over and we'd move everything out of the living room and set up the drums/amps/etc. I'd usually cook chicken or burgers for the crowd on dad's grill. Always charcoal. I've owned many, many grills over the years and I've never cooked once on a gas grill.
Here's the first grill I owned right after getting married - 1984, and my latest.. The new one was a very special and unexpected Christmas gift from the family.
Which do you guys and gals prefer?

On an off-topic to the off-topic; my daughter's boyfriend, who is building my first Tele just texted me asking what size strings do I use... GETTING CLOSE!! :)

Kids are coming over in about 20 minutes for a BBQ. I've got gas.

Charcoal even though we've had gas and appreciated some aspects.

Very often we grill things where the taste is all important, or where no gas grill I've tried can sear in the same way. I try to replicate that and some meals with the gas grills from different makers and can't.

Charcoal. Grew up with my Dad always grilling that way so I prefer not to know anything different. There's a little more science involved with charcoal as far as temperature control

I learned to cook meat while working for a local steakhouse. They used gas, so I've always been really comfortable using propane. To me, the quality of the meat and the way it's cooked are most important. It breaks my heart to go to a friend's home for a cookout and watch him cut into the steaks to check their temp.

Can you have GAS for a charcoal grill?

Gas is hauling your stove outside. Makes no sense to me. Why not just cook where theres counter/island space and no insects? My buddy smokes, so my vote is wood if you can do it.

Oklahoma Joe pit and Charcoal for me. Been using the same combination for 25 years and it hasn't let me down yet.

We have a nice propane grill now, but I have always preferred charcoal.

That Weber looks like just the ticket. It looks efficient enough to make a bag last a while.

I think I have room for both.

Option 3 for me. Wood pellet grill. I grew up with charcoal and was nervous about changing but for me there's no comparison. Compared to the time and effort of a charcoal grill it's like cheating but the food comes out better so I don't complain!

I've got two charcoal grills, a hibachi, a smoker, a pit and a wood fired grill. I'd like to have a gas grill. They're useful for many things.
