I use a phone holster on my running belt. Works great and keeps the phone from getting sweaty and bouncing too much in a pocket (some shorts are better than others for this).

Otherwise the phone is in my front pocket.

I did use the holster during the days of flip phones. Broke many of them getting the car. I hate having anything in my pockets, especially a phone. Mine always feels like it is going to just fall out when wearing shorts. As far as back pocket, I would sit on it and break it for sure.

Add tan Dockers and white New Balances for the win!
They tried, I resisted, and they eventually gave up
I did compromise on the Polo.
My IT uniform for the past 20 years has been a Polo, Jeans, and Vans ;)

I had a holster before flip phones, or cellphones in general. I carried my beeper in a holster on my belt.
If I recall, my first cellphone was a Motorola Startac, carried that and every phone after in a holster as well :)

I forgot about beepers (pagers). My employer (healthcare IT) required us all to have pagers all the way up to 2012 when they finally got rid of them. I think I had a holster for that too. Classic IT garb. Dockers, collard shirt (I despise polo's), and at least one device clipped on your belt. It just screamed nerd.

I was the neo luddite for cell phones. I tried to hold out for as long as I could with the Samsung & Motorola Razr flip phones before moving to the candy bar smartphones. All of my flip phones had leather holsters. All of my candy bar phones have Otterbox or similar.

I always use a clip-on holster. I have never lost or broken a phone. The people in my life who put their phones in pockets, especially back pockets, are always breaking and losing them. My wife just bought me an iPhone 14, to replace my eight year old iPhone SE. I didn't really want a new phone, but it seems ok.

If I'm wearing a hoody I keep it in the hand warming pocket, otherwise I just leave it in the truck. I'm nowhere near important enough to have to stay connected at all times. ;)

A lot of the special cases are as laughable as the holsters. I see it all the time with my department managing around 200 mobiles. Yeah, let's spend $45-$80 for a fat amount of plastic to make phones hard to handle that doesn't do much to stop the screen breakage.

Past few years of flagship phones have become much better to not have broken screens.

I've been using a Nite Ize XL horizontal phone holster for many years now, on the left side. The phone has a thin case to give additional protection when it's in my hand, etc. IMHO, a holster is a lot better solution than a pocket and it becomes pretty automatic to be able to reach for the device when it's needed. As to the age of the user...I was a LOT younger when I started this!! LOL

Here is a shot of my phone in the holster on my running belt. In the warmer months this is the way to go! In the Winter I have enough layers I can put all my stuffs in pockets and not worry about it getting sweaty or bouncing around.

Don't forget that a person can wear phone on your wrist now too. My last year's edition lasts for many hours to a day of sports activity. It is a very nice way to ditch the actual phone if your work has an always on demand or an on call status.

I prefer the smaller iPhone for this reason. Some phones are the size of laptops, no thanks. To each his own though. I don't wear a watch, a knife, or even rings. I'm weird this way I guess. If it didn't annoy me so bad I would carry my knife on my belt. I use it all the time. Instead I have everything hanging off my murse, ....a leather bag I try to make look as if its not a purse by hanging tools and crap off of it....
Yup, me too. I have a smaller iPhone so it fits easily in my pocket. I am surprised so many people opt for the huge ones. I always think,"how do you carry around that thing?"

Without the sorts of cases I dislike I don't find much if any difference if I have my "Max" size iPhone in a pocket or the iPhone SE models I have staged around the enterprise. That was a reality that hit me while carrying both.

Another bit in my strategy is I spend on far superior pants before fat plastic cases. Except for price, Kuhl pants should be favorites here. Gusseted crotch, phone pockets, cargo options, several fabric options all specific cuts for bodies I'll call full or trim.

I absolutely have a holster for my iPhone. I've had it for going on 5 years, and worn it every day since I got it. It's part of my EDC. If I'm dressed, I have it on me. Otherwise, I'd always be looking for my phone when I needed it, it would be more prone to damage, etc.

My cell phone holster was custom made for me by my best friend David. I've known him for 55 years, and for as long as I've known him, his hobby has been carving leather. Through the decades David's made other holsters for my wife and me, and wallets, checkbook covers, belts, and, oh yeah, guitar straps. He's even rebound Bibles for us.

Our weather means that a jacket is normal wear for most of the year, so my phone in its UAG case goes in my inside pocket.
If it's warm enough for no jacket, then it's warm enough for a bumched shrit and cargo shorts, which have enough pockets for a full survival kit.

🤔I wonder if carrying a phone in a nudist colony is as ubiquitous as it is in the clothed world.
Maybe God was thinking ahead when he gave us arse cracks.
