Hah. I had a cat find a moth on the ceiling. She was obviously in full predator mode, so I picked her up and held her on my hands. It took her just a second for "I can reach the bug" to overcome "clumsy oaf is holding me precariously".
We played this game for a couple minutes. When I tired of it, I put her down and she'd look at me, meow, look up at the bug, meow again until I did it again.

That is the proper way to cat.
Oh yeah, dang I miss that cat. The only one of the three I've since I was an adult that I raised from a kitten. I think that's why. Even though everyone loved to talk smack about her (my 3yo niece told me I needed to get a 'nice kitty', my wife still talks about her 10 years after she passed as the mean cat), we were very bonded.
Current one is nice enough, but we call her "social distance cat". I need to make a sign and take it to an adoption fair: "Will put up with attitude for head butts"

DAMN CATS!!! This big dumb sweetheart is under the knife at the vet's right now. He has an obstructed bladder and vet cannot clear with a catheter. So, surgical cleaning, changes to diet and distilled water, and hopefully many more years of him being a monster snugglebum. Ray-Ray, you better not bail on us so close to Yule! And it costs as much as an American Standard tele...

I lost my enormous orange Manx to the same sort of issues. The surgery introduced an air bubble to his blood stream and he stroked out. My cat General MacArthur had a bladder problem about three years ago, but they were able to clear it up with a catheter flush and a three day stay with the vet. And you are right. Both cases were horrendously expensive. I hope your boy pulls through all right. He looks like a right proper gentleman.

He handled the surgery well. The vet said the bladder was really sludgy and bruised, and it was not easy to clean, but the crystals seen were the ones that respond well to dietary changes.
Very glad to hear he is doing well. General MacArthur is doing so as well. It is my understanding, from the vets, that this is a common problem with male felines.
