    Nice!!!

The Fender catalogue from 1968 is also great, with the Coronados and Electric XII pics

Yep. Anywhere from $150 to $1800 in inflation adjusted dollars.

I miss those days in the late '70s when Ibeenhad was offering nearly correct copies of Flying Vs and Les Pauls and other famous guitars in the back of music magazines for $199.
I never could choose between those two models so I never ordered either. (Plus I didn't have $199)

I had a weird craving to get a banjo, when I was around 10. Walked to Sears to get a catalogue and learn the salesman's "You need a banjo, kiddo" patter. Almost got my parents to cave.

    Then they saw "Deliverance."

They gave me a BB gun instead.

Should have given you a bow and arrow set, based on their viewing of “Deliverance”...

Well, they knew that big brother and I had tensions. The BB gun was feeble. An arrow, though, I would have poison-tipped. Or at least mayonnaise-slathered, as he was allergic to that....

I smell tuna casserole when I look at these catalogues, and all the sickly '70s oranges and beiges in 'em. Not that I wouldn't love to time travel, and even play the things nowadaze....

For Christmas in about 1972 I got a "Stradolin" electric that looked much like #13 in the Wards catalog at top - in other words, a black LP custom copy. It replaced an older single p/u Kay sunburst that played better but wasn't as cool. The Strad got replaced by an Aria LP copy, which then gave way to a new '74 Fender Strat. Fortunately it's been uphill ever since, but it's cool seeing the old photos of catalog guitars.
