'55 Jaguar XK140
^ I "passed" on a 1957 XK140 back in the days of my youth because the rockers were all rotted out. It was petty cash.
Most of them
1959 Ferrari 250 GT LWB California Spyder
I still want a 1959 Cadillac...Eldorado or Coupe De Ville, either one...
An original, not a "kit car"...
I got to ride in one once...
So many ...
in the early '70s there was one in Hemmings one about 15,000. running, needed work. last one sold for 9.9 million...
But will it start when it's raining?
Used to watch the Ferraris role up and down Sunset Blvd. Back in '66, '67 saw a number of these yellow 275 GTBs. Sounded as good as it looked. Loved it when one would roar by with me waiting on the bus. Today I own a 1:18 scale model of the 275 GTB in yellow. Sits one shelf down from the Shelby Cobra I'll never own.
Why is this R5 sitting so high?
Mine didn't do that. But mine did have a huge cloth sunroof and I played designated driver to many a groom and ten or so other partiers. Sometimes it isn't the car, it is the wonderful times you had. Standing room only. Perfect French Quarter/Mardi Gras car.
And don't get me started, over all the misbehaving that women would do in one of these, that they wouldn't in an "adult" car. Before any of you mock me too heartily - mine was white.
I'm not at all a 'car guy', but I do get a little pang everytime I see a black '68 Charger
Any new luxury car. Any.
Not due to lack of funds, just lack of giving a damn. I've never liked them and I'm not sure why. I mean, the 2020 Chevy Impala I rented a few weeks back is straight up too fancy for me. I spent a lot of time riding in a roommates Benz SUV back in Chicago and I'd always be thinking (but never saying) "I don't get it." I had a GF with a few years removed Rover thingy of some sort, didn't get it.
An AMC Gremlin in turd Brown with a shifter on the floor? For some reason, I GET that.
