Really any musical instrument I guess. But I was visiting some family friends today and was trying to explain that the three vintage Chrysler’s in their shed had a lot in common with the guitars (and mandolins, and basses, and etc) in my studio. Each year of manufacturing means something. You can keep them stock, you can hot rod them. You have your Japanese made addicts, and those hat think Japanese guitars are junk. (For example). A Les Paul 59 is a Cadillac. A Gretsch is a Buick. An Ibanez is a Honda. A telecaster is a Ford. Or a Chevy. A strat is a fair lane. Or a mustang. Etc etc.

I know my examples aren’t exactly accurate, but you get the idea. Colours, parts, widths, lengths, preferred part brands. Tyres, strings, pickups, engines, Ford. Chevrolet, fender, Gibson, etc etc...

Any car nuts here who could explain it better?

    I'm smoking what you're growing, dlew919.
I get what you are saying, and I agree.

Guitar fans & collectors are a lot like car guys, in more ways than one.
And you nailed it in your OP there.

    :)

Yes I too dabble in the sins mentioned. Pretty hard to have just 1 of any of these items.

Do you think that a lot of guitar guys are car guys? I know I am. I love old cars, tractors, machines in general, and guitars as well.

I have a Corvette C6 that I spent most of yesterday on. Also have an Infiniti G35 and a Mercedes-Benz E350 wagon for hauling. Recently I've been looking at Porsche Boxters.

Everyone needs at least one car with a cherry sunburst paint job to match their Les Paul.

Very nice, I guess you would!

My wife saw a Boxster the other day and said "you should get one of those". Hard to argue with that.

I've always told people that Fender style guitars are kind of like hot rods, if you get enough parts, you can build one more!

    Yes, I'm guilty...

    Good wife:)

The Boxster is the essence of a sports car. With a thumpin’ flat six right behind your arse.
