Zero interest on my end, but I can see how it might be useful for some folks. My driving record/claims history is pretty clean, my last speeding ticket was well over 15 years ago, and I suspect the monitor would probably increase more than decrease my rates.

It wouldn't be much of a change for me, since my wife monitors my driving most of the time. I guarantee you NOBODY at ANY insurance company would want HER monitoring their driving. Were I not a former professional driver, possessing years of experience dealing with changing driving conditions, I wouldn't have a chance.

PS:

Now where did you say you put that thing? In the glove box hmmm, no I better not go there.
I'm the same, on a much much smaller scale.

Used to haul 30" concrete well curbing all over Deep East Texas and Louisiana with my father, following him driving the decrepit drilling rig. Upon which I was his swamper too.

Three ton Chevy or GMC, four with a two speed rear axle. I enjoyed it, but it was hot! Summer job only, and he paid me $20 a day. Six days a week, fortunately dad refused to work on Sunday, so we could recover from the direct sun and heat.

That kind of work has a certain satisfaction that sometimes you don't appreciate for a long time afterwards that you simply can't get from a lot of things people call work today.

I went from hauling iron, to playing customer golf and eating fat lunches. I had a great time doing that, but I can't say there was a lot of satisfaction from doing my job at the end of the day. There's something about putting your body to the test working, that just breeds satisfaction at the end of the day.

The Bob Seger song "Like A Rock"?

That was me, in about 1978-1980. I was in the best shape of my life, and you are right about all of that.

Forgot to mention, I was his swamper too. Wrangled the bucket out of the well to empty it, and pulled the curbing off the adjacent truck by inserting a setter which we could release and retrieve from up top. Hopefully.
Hard work, and working for your father is infinitely more difficult.

I am better for it though.

I have never heard of such a thing.

It kinda makes sense though.

I'm not sure how it would work for me, come to think of it.

I would probably get great discounts off my monthly rate for driving well, leaving the cell phone in the back of the vehicle far away from me, and rarely speeding.

But then they would add $50 to my bill for all the times I angrily shout driving advice to other motorists.

😬

Nor do I, unless it saves me money. We're all being tracked by multiple entities. Make no mistake lol.
I agree 100%. It's unavoidable. I limit what I can. Definitely not going to sign up for it. I'm curious how you will feel about the insurance tracking it in a year or so. I don't think they're doing it to save you money, they are making money off it somehow, much more than you are saving. Probably selling your information. They determine where you go and what you like then sell your info to advertisers.
