    Hello wonderful people!!

I own an AER Compact 60 acoustic amp. The speaker is starting to sound tired and I believe that it is in need of replacing.

I'm having troubles finding suitable replacements.

Would a car audio speaker be suitable for an acoustic amplifier? Thanks in advance for your help.

It would be kind of tough finding an 8" car speaker that is full range. If you do, sure.

PM Muchxs. He'll tell you exactly what speaker to get, who actually made it and which model high school intercom from back in the day to get it from. Sleeper speakers you've never heard of are, to him, like single malt scotch is to some people. He put an old alnico 6x9 in one of his 5f1 builds I have that honks out a nasty midrange like an angry goose on Christmas Day!!!

Why not contact AER and inquire about a replacement.

I believe you have many options: car audio, P.A., high fidelity speakers. For a strictly electric guitar amplifier I have, I put an 8" woofer from a Hammond organ in it. I have an 8" Selenium (made in brazil) in another: very powerful with good low end - probably would not have the high end you are looking for - unless your AER has a high range tweeter in it.

How about looking at something from Eminence Chris? They have a pretty wide selection of 8" speakers if that's the size you're looking for. Even that new 820H/"Chemp" might work well in an acoustic amp. It's got tremendous range.

Maybe drop them a line and as ask for a suggestion or two for that particular amp of your. They're very helpful when it comes to that and they make a great product.

but that's not something one would look for when using an AER amp.
they are very, very clean and natural sounding amps.

... and what speakers did he use in his trucks?

Cool, I'll shoot an email to AER. I am on a bit of a budget though because I'm saving for an Orange Dual Terror.
