Can you tell which pickup by ear?

I love Tom Petty’s tone in general, but especially in this live version of “I Won’t Back Down.”

I don’t have the ear for it, but is it possible to tell whether he was on the bridge or neck pickup? Or both?

I assumed he was playing a telecaster…

Any insights on this?

My guess is bridge or middle.

Edit: But I'm leaning more toward bridge.

What a great article about that string of concerts in ‘97.

I always wondered if he was playing that blonde Wildflowers Torucaster in this particular track. The Instagram video makes me more certain; he was at least using it during those shows.
