Please tell me if you think this H.S. Anderson Mad Cat is legit. Also, any information about this guitar model and re-issue dates. It was built in 2019, has the serial number stamped on the back of the head stock. The serial number checked out with Moradaira, but they say they cannot guarantee it because it wasn’t purchased from them.

Oh, and it came with the semi soft case that is said to have come with the guitar. I just cannot find any information on this guitar being manufactured as a re-issue after 2011. It looks like the 45th anniversary version built in 2009 which was a run of 25. I was thinking maybe it’s a re-issue of that because it’s the same as a 2011 being sold on reverb. The reason I say this is due to the tortoise binding.

Didnt Moradaira do tortoise binding on all the RI's?

I wish I could find a sheet of that celluloid pg material.

No. The newer version 2 with the pearl inlaid headpiece has black binding. All of the originals had black binding too. Moridaira made a 45th anniversary with the tortoise binding. Only 25. Then in 2011, they began reproducing that guitar. This seems to be one of them.

Looks like my Harley Benton version too.
Could be ya… I’m Harley Benton stupid.. I should buy one. Then again for the price, I’ll just pick off the junk parts and replace them with good parts and really, i should have just built one 😂

It's hard to say just looking at a few pics, though, I must say that it DOES appear to be a genuine Mad Cat. I did not know that they were still being made. The tortoiseshell binding is superb on this example, as is the different tort pattern on the pickguard, but it looks to me like the genuine guard as is typically seen on an H.S. Anderson T-style guitar. At some point, I ceased from staying abreast of these, so I wish I could be of more help to you. They are very unique Teles and I can see a time when a Madcat has a place in my collection!
