Way back when I was just learning about guitars, I came across a unique Fender bass at the local music store. I guess this was maybe 1980/81-ish, maybe 1982. I do not recall the body or pickup configuration, but I remember the neck and headstock, which was maple and the headstock was a 2+2 configuration with a symmetrical & centered rounded apex such as a Flying V would have, and was rather slim and very fast and comfortable action.

It absolutely was NOT a Prophecy model (which had 2 points on the headstock), and I don't believe I have seen one since. I think it had P-Bass guts, but again am wholly unsure. It's been so long...

    Any ideas?

2+2? Can't help you, but back in those days people sometimes put the wrong logo om guitars.

I think Kloun is on the right track, the 5 string Performer had 3/2 headstock configuration and a more rounded shape than the 4 string.

I believe the time frame is late '80's/early '90's.

Looks like the performer shares the same headstock with the Fender Katana Bass
