Way back when I was just learning about guitars, I came across a unique Fender bass at the local music store. I guess this was maybe 1980/81-ish, maybe 1982. I do not recall the body or pickup configuration, but I remember the neck and headstock, which was maple and the headstock was a 2+2 configuration with a symmetrical & centered rounded apex such as a Flying V would have, and was rather slim and very fast and comfortable action.

It absolutely was NOT a Prophecy model (which had 2 points on the headstock), and I don't believe I have seen one since. I think it had P-Bass guts, but again am wholly unsure. It's been so long...

    Any ideas?

Possibly a damaged headstock that had been shortened and modified?

Your are not thinking of the Gibson Grabber/Ripper series from the mid '70's are you?
( maple bodies/necks- they had a Flying V headstock on a few years)

*I'm not a bass player, just remembering...

    Probably a Fender MB-4.

Not that one, but it was the earlier post about that series from another member that got me thinking about it.
