    Hello there everybody!

I hope you're all doing well!

A friend of mine loaned me his Line6 HX Stomp for a while and being a Josh Smith fan boy that I am, I tried to recreate some of his tones using a Squier Classic Vibe 50's Telecaster plugged directly into the HX Stomp. I made this video about it and I recorded the Stomp direct by utilizing it's USB capabilities and there are also clips of the sound in the room. I also used the Boss Katana 50 on the Acoustic Channel with the EQ dimed all the way to monitor the stomp.

    And if you're a Stomp user, here's the preset! : https://line6.com/customtone/tone/5330298/

I would love to know what you guys think, cheers!

Thanks for posting. That sounds pretty convincing - I wouldn't have know it wasn't an amp if you hadn't told us.

Not a lot of love here for amp modeling technology but no doubt this will change over time.

    Cheers

Great review. Really, really nice playing with tasteful double stops and very accurate bends.

Sounded awesome! You did it right, I like hearing some good playing at the beginning with no talk. I know the talking is coming, but I want to hear the juicy playing first before I hear any explanations. So you hooked me right in! Great playing. My favorite tone and licks is what you did with at 7:33 with 'Room Sounds', that is what I first think of when I think of Josh Smith stuff.

I love love love Josh Smith. My favorite explanation of him is: Just when you think you've heard every iteration and interpration of blues licks, he comes along with such a fresh twist that it all sounds new again. I swear I've heard more 'newer' blues licks from Josh that any other blues player.

    Great job man!

Thank you so much! Josh is a modern guitar hero, his groove, his style and his musicality are out of this world, simply amazing!

I like Josh smith, but I think it's a fool's errand to chase someone else's tone. Be inspired by Josh's sound and then create your own thing, if it's close to what you like and admire then great, if it's not too close but it still puts a smile on your face and it sounds good to you, and hopefully to the rest, bingo! Kudos on the playing, very tasteful. I wouldn't worry so much about Josh smith, you sound great being yourself and the tone is in the ballpark of what you seem to like.

When it comes to Josh Smith, 95% of his sound comes from his fingers.

That being said, the Line6 gear has a very nice tone.
