I'm looking into getting an ac15 but would like to learn what vox has added and changed over the years. Pros and cons of one over the other, ac15cc1 v ac15c2 ect. I'm new to the vox history. Thanks.
Don't know a whole lot on the c series but the only difference between the ac15hw1 and the ac15hw1x is the speaker. The 1 being a greenback and the 1x being a alnico blue. These are the hand wired models. I think that the c1 is 599, and there is a white(custom?) model with a celestion g12h for 699. That's about all I know
Vox created some really confusing nomenclature when they called the AC15C1 and CC1 "AC15s". It's like when Ford called the late '70s Mustang... really a re-styled Pinto... a "Mustang".
The handwired amps are more like a classic Vox AC15. The C1 and the CC1 are a weird juxtaposition of a Fender style preamp and an EL84 "Vox" power amp.
OK here's a question for the amp gurus: how close is the Gibson GA-15 / Velocette circuit to the original AC15? I've got one of these, like it a lot, read someplace on the interweb that it was a very close take on the AC15 but I'm wondering which AC15?
I've got one of the 1x10 non-verb versions, great grab and go amp. Through a Gold in an oversize Bad Cat speaker cab, completely amazing.
