I am hoping you can open the link.

It looks like some kind of thin engraved metal that is screwed to the top of the guitar. May or may not affect resonance.

What is also interesting is the headstock plate that reads " Fender Telecaster REBORN IN TEXAS 2004".

Was this a special edition? Are the plates still available? Does anyone know anything about this Tele? I have never seen it.

That looks like a custom aftermarket job.

A cross between a Tele and a Zemaitis...I always loved the look of those...Keith R. and the guy from the Black Crows would approve...

It looks like a Zemaitis body and a Tele neck.
It's a thing of beauty for sure.

nice. If it were me, I would be endlessly trying to get that smudge out. Then I would realise later that it was a reflection...

That's very strange... If that isn't the same guitar that was on display at a little shop called "Instrument Repair" here in LaCrosse Wisconsin about a year ago... well, it's the identical twin. A very sweet piece, I got to play it a little.

Looks like the pickguard that Walt Bricker did for me a couple years ago. He's in texas too, I bet he did the engraving.

i saw what must have been one of Walt's
engraved Tele pickguards on eBait a few months ago.

    very nice.

    beautiful finish on your Tele.

    re: OT

no mention of a "chambered body",
so that "f-hole" must be bolted right over
the face of a black-painted solid body.

That is actually a Squier body. If you ever take the plate off the engravers email address is on there. This is the only one ever made.
