I've always placed Compression pedals before my gain pedals. Keeley, MXR, Mad Professor, Wampler, Diamond, I've tried, played or owned them all.

But now I'm using a Cali76 and wondering if I shouldn't put it at the very end of my signal chain the way you would use compression in a sound desk or in the studio.

    Anyone have any thoughts?

I have also pondered this question, and - to me at least - it is an interesting one. I have always placed my Cali76 first in the chain as well, so thank you for asking about this.

You should try it out that way though I usually keep the compressor pedal first or second in the chain as I like to do this type of alteration before hitting the delay & modulation pedals. The Cali looks like one nice guitar compressor.
